Jesus said, “The prince of this world’s coming but he has nothing in me that’s in common with him so he has no power over me.” John 14:30.
Naturally, I hear from a lot of peeps who are interested in prison ministry. I see people go into prison ministry and get their behinds kicked. Why? They have such a heart for prison ministry. Often, it is an ex-drug addict or somebody who did prison time. They want to go back in, take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the prison and see people saved. That’s awesome.
But then, they finally make it back in and they can’t make any headway. It’s like trying to break rock with their bare hands. Why? Well, if you’re an ex-drug addict, that sin wounded the soul. You have wounds in your soul that are in common with practically every single person in the facility. I wonder why you’re having a hard time?
Unless you get your soul healed of the stuff you have in common with the demons protecting the region you are trying to take, you will encounter supernatural resistance from them.
You may have gone on a mission trip overseas or perhaps you know someone who did. Sometimes, people go on those trips and they get really, really sick. Hey, I know firsthand what happens when you go out on the road, into a new region to minister or a new church where you’ve never been. In Mark, chapter 5 we see, as soon as Jesus got out of the boat at the region of the Gerasenes, a regional demon named Legion was waiting.
Regional demons are assigned to guard a specific territory, to torment and afflict all the people in their area. Naturally, they don’t want you coming into “their house” messing up their game. So, as soon as you step out of the boat or off the plane or out of the car they are there. Imagine that, your own demonic welcome wagon, except you don’t want the “goodie basket” they have prepared for you. They are ready to perform what is described in Psalm 143, pursue and persecute your soul. They make you sick by finding a wound in your soul giving them the legal right to do so.
No wonder many missionaries, evangelists and people with new ministries, go into prisons or homeless areas or whatever else become sick and even die. Yes, they die. They get cancer or other serious diseases and they die because they stepped into a new region of land a regional demon meets them, sees what tombs they have in their souls and uses it to make them sick. Satan has one well-known goal, to steal, kill and destroy. He plays by nobody’s rules.
Have I frightened you? Are you ready to turn tail and run? Wait! Come back! This message is not to scare you away. It is to equip you by getting you prepared for the battle ahead. You can win.
As my ministry grew and I travelled from state to state and town to town, I was attacked the minute I set foot in the region. I used to visit a new region weekly. Every week, when I entered a new town, a new wound cane up. A spirit would come find something else that I had in my soul that was in common with that particular region and then I would be sick. Next week, I would encounter the same thing, only different. I battled fierce sicknesses.
Every single time, I beat it. Every single time, I put the blood and the dunamis power on my soul. I just prayed for my soul and sometimes the battle would be a day, two days and sometimes three or four days. But, in the end, I always beat it.
In the end, Satan and his minions did me a favor because they showed me all the stuff in my soul that I didn’t even know existed. So, every time something new came up, I was attacked, then healed, attacked, then healed until my soul got stronger. The anointing became powerful, the miracles became plentiful. Signs and wonders became routine.
If you are planning a mission trip or you are entering a new ministry or planting a church, take this decree and proclaim it over yourself and your team:
“Lord, I ask for your grace as I go into this mission field. I ask you to show me, beforehand, the wounds I have in common with that region. Show me in a dream or vision or give me a revelation while I’m reading your word. Systematically show me if I am dwelling among tombs and every one that is in common with that region of land. I thank you, Lord, that your Holy Spirit will reveal it to me and then I will step into the power of your cross and your Resurrection and one by one I will get every wound healed that I have in common with that land. And I decree that I will have total dominion over every spirit over that region before I get there in Jesus’ name.”
Now, go and change the world. Big Love, Katie
