Lesson 20

I can’t speak for everyone, but when I get offended, I tend to run at the mouth. I might talk some smack. Okay, I might talk a lot of smack. I don’t mean to be presumptuous, but I don’t think I’m the only one who deals with offense that way.

I see it all the time. Someone gets their feelings hurt or thinks something was done incorrectly or handled improperly and here we go. They look for the nearest person to vent on.

It sounds like this: “You’re not gonna believe what they did now!! Blah, blah, yakity yak, unbelievable, irresponsible, blah, blah, I think she has a demon, yakity yak, yak, yak!!” (Did you notice the double exclamation points?)

Now, you might feel a bit convicted. You might think, “Oh, man, I got to stop talking about it. It’s really not good.” But you just can’t seem to help yourself and then, off you go again. “Well, you know, I didn’t want to say anything but let me tell you what happened now. Blah, blah, blah, yakity, yakity, yak!!!” (Three, this time.)

Am I right? We just can’t help ourselves. That is what righteous indignation feels like. You feel righteous. In fact, you know your version is right. And now, all you need is someone to confirm. You need someone to validate the wrong you have been dealt. You need to SHARE your PAIN.

So, here’s the problem. Those words may be wounding your soul and making you sick.

Proverbs 26:22 says, “The words of a slander or a whisper are like deadly wounds. They go down to the innermost part of the body.” That innermost part of the body is the “inner self,” the soul. Your words can wound your soul and not only wound your soul but become deadly wounds.

I know it feels so good to talk about somebody that’s acting the fool. But with every single word, you’re digging your own grave. You’re actually commanding a sickness to come upon you.

Think of the last time that you were extremely offended. Did you get sick at the same time? When I ask this question in meetings, hands go up throughout the room. It’s true. When you let yourself get offended, then you talk smack about people, “the words of a slander or a whisper are like deadly wounds”. They go down to the innermost part of the being.

I visited a prison in Lowell, Florida, which is one of the biggest women’s prisons in the United States and I taught on this subject. They understood. It was awesome. When we did the activation’s miracles happened. During one of the breaks a woman came up for prayer. I heard the Lord say, “Ask her about the pain in her tooth.” So, I did and she confirmed she had experienced tooth pain for quite some time.

I reached out and touched her and, as soon as I touched her, I heard the word “property.” In prison, an inmate’s belongings are their property, and they are given a property box to contain their stuff. As soon as I touched her and heard that word, I felt that she had gotten very bothered, even offended, because somebody had messed with her property.

So I asked her if someone had messed with her property and caused her to be offended. She said, “Yes, ma’am. When I first came to the unit, a CO took my shades and I was not happy about it.”

I asked her, “When the CO did that, did you began to say offended, even cursing, evil words about that CO?”

“Yes, ma’am,” she said.

I told her, “Remember what we just learned. Proverbs 26 says, ‘The words of a slander or whisper are like deadly wounds that go down to the innermost part of the belly.’ When you spoke about that CO in an offended manner, it actually wounded your own soul and it made a bacteria and decay inside your tooth. See, those words are coming out of your mouth. A lot of times people have mouth problems. That’s how the disease will manifest, because of the words coming out of the mouth.”

Now, I told her, “I want you to just start repenting for being offended at that CO and ask the Lord for forgiveness and forgive that CO and, while you’re doing that, I’m gonna pump your soul full of dunamis.” So she began to put the blood of Jesus on and I placed my hand on her and began to pray that her soul would be filled with dunamis and it would become excellent.

Then, I heard God say, “Now, command the bacteria to die and new enamel to grow on the tooth.” So I said, “I command bacteria to die. I command the pain to leave in Jesus’ name and I command new fresh enamel on that tooth, in Jesus’ name.”

Then I looked at her and asked, “How’s the pain now?”

“It’s gone,” she said. Just like that!

In the next session, I tell her story, then I ask the group, “All right, ladies, how many of you have ever been offended at a CO and spoke evil, offended words? Raise your hand.” Nearly everyone raised their hands. It was a packed room, too.

So, I follow up. “How many of you have problems in your mouth? Raise your hands.” Eighty percent of them raised their hands. I led them in repentance for being offended and showed them how to command their souls to be excellent. Miracles broke out everywhere.

Police are in the room, naturally and I could tell from their body language they were pretty skeptical about me. But, when I told the inmates to repent for saying offended words, cursing words about the COs, I got their attention. Suddenly they were on board with the message. “Yeah, you all heard the woman of God. You may all need to repent.” For the first time in my life, I was friends with the police.

The bible tells us blessings and curses cannot come from the same mouth. Remember that.

Big Love, Katie
